The business blossomed from 1903 when the first film was shown in Lagos through into the 1972s and 80s. Lagos, becoming the neurological centre of economic activities in Nigeria having a cosmopolitan populace, had many cinema homes. Apart from improving the owners, cinemas offered employment for most people and also served an important sociable function. Persons visited concert halls for rest and entertainment purposes. Nevertheless , the downturn in the countrywide economy plus the emergence of the house video organization created a negative effect on movie theater ventures as much of the movie theater houses were closed straight down. Cinemas, finding films or motion picture was obviously a popular type of entertainment and relaxation in Nigeria before independence in 1960. Theatre is a ways of information, education and social development of the masses (Enahora, 1989: 101). It is a way of communication and comprehension. Cinema enables the folks to involve themselves in an imaginary globe for a short period of time in addition to various other side sights it offers. The cinema organization flourished in Lagos from 1903 up the late 1980s and 90s. In its heyday, Lagos experienced more than forty cinema houses (Akarue et al, 1992: 37).
